How do I take measurements before replacing my windows?
These measurements allow us to provide an initial estimate, but final measurements taken by a technician are still required before the order is placed.
To measure a window properly, first take the dimensions from the outside of the frame, from one jamb to the other. Measure the width and height in at least two different places, then use the smallest measurement. Also allow for a 6 mm clearance on each side to ensure proper adjustment and insulation of the window.
Next, check the correspondence between the exterior and interior measurements. To take the interior measurement accurately, remove the casings to access the frame. If the exterior measurement is larger than the interior measurement, a window with moulding may be required to compensate for the difference.
